Poseidon Genethlios

Hail Poseidon, called Genethlios, god of our fathers.
Our blood sings the song of the ocean
for you are in our veins,
lord of endless bounty,
patron of our ancestors.

At your bidding did our ancient kin
leave the salty brine.
At your bidding do we walk
the lands Titanes left behind.

With your trident’s mighty strike
you summoned water, clear and bright.
To slake our never ending thirst
and bring to earth a verdant light.

Our blood sings the song of the ocean
for you are in our veins,
lord of endless bounty,
patron of our ancestors.

Libations poured upon the ground
of water and of wine so sweet,
to demonstrate our thanks and love,
and sometimes, just to greet.

Through you we honor those who came
before to give us life.
Issue of your issue’s issue,
reforging practice torn by strife.

Our blood sings the song of the ocean
for you are in our veins,
lord of endless bounty,
patron of our ancestors.

With offerings to our mighty dead,
the heroes, kith, and kin,
we strengthen ancient promises,
still burgeoning within.

Our ancestors help keep you near
as you draw them to us.
Offerings we make to our dead and
Poseidon Genethlios.

Our blood sings the song of the ocean
for you are in our veins,
lord of endless bounty,
patron of our ancestors.

I love this! I’m chuckling — I came thisclose to naming the ‘Poseidon Philadelphos’ this, instead. It was close, but not quite right.

This one makes me wish I could do anything at all with any sort of music. He makes me wish I was a musician or an artist, as well as a writer. Want to make all the things!
